Games Design Document (GDD)
The Game Design Document (GDD) is a highly descriptive document of the game design. This GDD consists of many aspects including:
- Game overview – title, genre, game perspective, game mode(s), target audience, core idea, goal and topic of the game
- Game background and game flow – background story and characters starting story
- Game Play – objectives, game logic, mechanics, game resources, game progression and economies
- Game elements – environment, characters and collectable weapons
- Game play I/O controls and GUI Interfaces
- Visual and audio features
- System parameters and requirements
- Creativity and special enhancements in game concept

Technical Design Document (TDD)
The Technical Design Document (TDD) is a specification for all the technical aspects of the game outlined in the GDD. This TDD consists of many aspects including:
- List of features
- Choice of game engine
- Schedule
- High level diagrams
- Art tools
- 3D objects, terrain & scene management
- Collision detection, physics & interaction
- Game logic and artificial intelligence
- Networking
- Audio and visual effects
- Delivery platform & hardware/software requirements
